This article explores contributions of Edward Martell and Carl Johnson to awareness of public health dangers from operations of the Rocky Flats nuclear bomb plant. Martell, a radiochemist researcher at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and Johnson, head of the Jefferson County Health Department for several years, paid dearly for raising questions about public health issues related to plutonium releases from the Rocky Flats plant.
