Very bad news: EPA posts new Protective Action Guides for nuclear events

In Democracy, Environment, Public Health on June 5, 2013 at 2:12 am

The EPA should be called the Enterprise Protection Agency for issuing new Protection Action Guides (PAGs) that greatly relax existing standards for protecting the public and the environment in the USA in the event of a major accident at a nuclear power plant (think Fukushima, Chernobyl, Three Mile Island), attack with a “dirty” (radioactive) bomb, releases from nuclear fuel or weapons facilities, or major transportation accident. EPA is implementing these new PAGs even though it is still collecting public comments on them.
